Latest hat

Took a break from my sisters blanket (which was a bad idea) and now I am back to my hat making craze. So here is one that I worked on in my off time from the blanket. This is for a friends daughter.

Hello Kitty

This pattern I tweaked a pattern I found on another site.  Here it is...


Supplies:
Yarn used Sugar and Cream and Peaches and Cream brand yarn
White
Hot Pink 
Black 
Yellow
Hook I
Hook G
Blunt tipped needle


Larger size add round written in red


Hat:
Using White yarn
ch 5, join with sl st to form ring
Round 1:  ch 3, 11 dc in ring, join with sl st in top of ch 3--12 sts.
Round 2:  ch 1, dc in same ch as joining, 2dc in each st around, join with sl st--24 sts.
Round 3:  ch 1, dc in same ch as joining *dc in next st, 2dc in next st* repeat from * around join with sl st--36 sts.
Round 4:  ch 1, dc in same ch as joining *dc in next 2 sts, 2dc in next st* repeat from * around join with sl st--48 sts.
*OPTIONAL ROUND* ch 1, dc in same ch as joining *dc in next 3 sts., 2dc in next st* repeat from * around join with sl st--60 sts.
Round 5:  ch 1, dc in same ch as joining, dc in each st around join with sl st, repeat round until desired length is achieved
Ear Flap:
Make 2
Fold hat in half with seam up the back 
Starting with the stitch on the fold count 6 (8) sts. and join into that st
ch2, dc in next 11 (13) sts. , turn
ch2, dc2tog, dc in next 6 (8) sts., dc2tog, dc in last st, turn
ch2, dc2tog, dc in next 4 (6) sts., dc2tog, dc in last st, turn
ch2, dc2tog, dc in next 2 (4) sts., dc2tog, dc in last st, turn
ch2, dc2tog, dc in next 2 sts., dc2tog, dc in last st, turn
ch2, dc2tog twice, dc in last st
finish off
Edging:
Using pink yarn join into any stitch along back of hat ch 1, sc in each stitch around hat and earflaps join with sl st in chain
finish off
Braids:
cut 5 strands each of both the pink and white yarn in 2 ft lengths for each braid (20 total)
group the 10 strands of pink and white together and fold, insert the folded end of the strands into a center spot in the bottom of the ear flap from the outside of the flap to the inside leaving a loop on the inside of the flap. then insert the tail end of the group of strands into the loop and pulling forming a knot around the bottom edge of the flap. separate strands in 3 sections braid and then knot at the end.
Eyes:
Make 2 eyes
black yarn
g hook
rnd 1. ch 2, do 12 sc in the 2nd chain from the hook, join with sl st. attach in the center of the hat, about 2 inches apart.
Ears:
Make 2,
G hook,
white yarn
rnd 1. chain 3, join with sl st. to create a ring 
rnd 2. 10 sc into the ring, sl st. join 
rnd 3. *2sc in the next st, *Repeat to finish round (20 st.)
rnd 4. *1 sc in the next st, 2sc in the next st, *Repeat, sl st. 
rnd 5. *1 sc in the next 2 stitches, 2sc in the next st, *Repeat, sl st. Fold the circle in half and sc the circle together to create a half circle. Then sew the two half circles on top of the hat to create ears.
Whiskers:
black yarn
use three black pieces of yarn on each side of the face of the kitty. each whisker measures 1 1/2 inches. sew them on individually and tie them on inside of the hat, place whiskers next to the eyes, about 1/2 inch away on both sides
Nose:
g hook
yellow yarn
rnd 1. ch 2, do 10sc in the 2nd chain from the hook, join with sl st., attach below the eyes in the center.
Bow:
pink yarn
g hook
row 1. ch 12, sc in the 2nd chain from the hook and each stitch to the end, ch 1, turn
row 2-4. *sc in each ch across working in the back loops only, ch 1, turn, *repeat, sc in all stitches around the border of the bow. 
finish off
Band on bow:
row 1: ch 6, sc in 2nd chain from hook and in each st to the end, ch 1, turn
row 2: sc in each st across to end, ch 1, turn
row 3: sc in each st across to end
finish off
attach the band around the center of the bow cinching it ( I used the tails on each end to pull through the corresponding corner stitch and tying the two tails together.
attach bow by tying in front of right ear
